Description:
Nutrition Programs Coordinator
Overview: Oversee operations of all nutrition and meal related programs of the Williamsburg Senior Center. These include, but are not limited to, the Brown Bag Program (1x monthly), the Monday Meal Program, Highland Valley Elder Service Congregate Meal Program (3x weekly) and the Take Home Dinner Program as well occasional special events where food is served. This person will act as a greeter/hostess, provide general oversight of programming designed to support socialization before and after lunch and manage volunteers in the various tasks of all of the nutritional programs.
Mealsite Oversite Time: (50%, 7 hrs week)
Prepare a meal onsite or manage a contractor to do so, with volunteer helpers, 1x weekly and for occasional events. Serve meals 4x weekly, monitor food temperatures and collect participant fees/donations. Keep cupboards and all materials/supplies organized as well as oversee the general upkeep of appliances.
Volunteer Management: (20%, 3 hrs weekly) Train and oversee volunteers in adherence of ServeSafe guidelines. Direct volunteers in the setting-up of tables/chairs/condiments, in bringing of meals to clients who cannot ambulate safely, and in daily clean-up of tables and kitchen area. Coordinate with staff and volunteers for delivery of meals, volunteers working on gardening for food programs as well as other special projects as needed. Oversee volunteer delivery of all relevant food program deliveries.
Admin & Misc. Tasks: (30%, 5.5 hrs weekly)
Maintain good communication with all partnering agencies involved in the food related programs of the Senior Center (HVES, Smith Vocational Culinary Program, The Food Bank etc., Board of Health etc.). Attend partnering agency meetings as needed and staff meetings weekly, complete necessary paperwork, including daily documentation of clients served and volunteers hours. Place orders for contracted meals, packaging etc. Plan menu and shopping lists for Monday Meals Program. Shop for supplies and work with staff/volunteers in coordinating/planning cooking events, seasonal planting and harvesting of garden and other special nutritional programming (ie. Volunteers providing cooking demos/sponsored desserts etc.).
Qualifications:
Candidate must possess a positive team attitude, a desire to assist seniors, have good interpersonal and communication skills, and be comfortable with delegating tasks and directing volunteers. A good sense of humor and patience a must. Experience with commercial food prep a plus, but not required. Knowledge of Hilltown Culture a plus. Must possess the ability to use a computer and lift at least 50lbs, sit or stand for long periods of time, and be able to work in a busy office environment. Valid driver’s license and a clean CORI required. Good vision and hearing are necessary.
Schedule:15.5 hrs (M-Th) at $14.01 hr., 9 hrs are guaranteed through town funds and 6.5 hr. are grant funded which makes them subject to change.
Additional hours may be needed occasionally for training or partner agency meetings.

Nutrition Program Coordinator Position

The Town of Williamsburg is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Nutrition Program Coordinator to work 14-15.5 hours weekly, Monday through Thursday, managing nutritional programs and volunteers in various roles at the Williamsburg Senior Center.
The successful applicant must be a team player, be Serve Safe Trained (or willing to be trained), be able to use a computer, have a desire to work with the senior population,
have a sense of humor, patience and ability to work in a busy office environment.
Experience with food preparation and/or knowledge of Hilltown culture a plus.
