Description:
PV Squared is looking for an experienced Permitting and Design Manager to join the Operations Team. Under supervision of the Operations Manager, this person is responsible for designing and permitting solar projects within the many jurisdictions PV Squared operates. This role is responsible for ensuring designs comply with all applicable state and federal building and electrical codes. This person will conduct site assessments, evaluate equipment options, optimize designs, provide value engineering, originate bills of material, create construction documents, and manage relationships and communications with various project stakeholders. This is a full-time position with benefits based in Greenfield, MA.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related field or 3 years of construction related experience
• Comfortable going to project sites, climbing ladders, and investigating rooftops and attic structures to gather data and originate structural designs
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and Google Docs, with the ability and interest to learn other programs as needed
• Experience applying for and successfully procuring construction permitting approvals.
• Ability to read plan sets and construction documents
• Strong organizational and self-direction skills, and an ability to see commitments to completion
• Demonstrated success managing multiple, system-wide priorities in a fast-paced work setting
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external partners
• Ability to think critically and solve problems

Our Ideal Candidate:
• Structural and electrical engineering experience, particularly as they relate to solar design, with Massachusetts Professional Engineering stamp in these fields a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with the National Electric Code and/or solar system design
• Ability to research products and assess their suitability for a given purpose
• Proactive, growth-oriented individual with a desire for continuous learning
• Passionate about solar energy, green building, and the cooperative business model
• Flexible thinker and team player who is willing to pitch in where needed
