Description:
At YMCA Day Camp Norwich our goal is to prepare children for the challenges of today and tomorrow through programs that develop individuals, strengthen families, and build safe, caring communities. Camper relationships are our main focus. This is why campers attend daily activities together in small groups of 10-14 campers with 2 counselors. Throughout their time at camp, campers explore all age appropriate activities in the supportive environment of their small group.

Camp Norwich is located on 137 beautiful acres of fields and forests with 1/3 mile of shoreline on crystal clear Lake Norwich. Only 20 minutes from Northampton, our camp includes nature trails, a low ropes course, large program buildings, and athletic fields and courts.

Camp Norwich offers many exciting activities including swimming, adventure programming, outdoor living skills, athletics, boating, drama, crafts, music, campfires, and overnights.

Camp Sessions:
I. 6/25-6/29 and 7/2-7/6
II. 7/9-7/13 and 7/16-7/20
III. 7/23-7/27 and 7/30-8/3
IV. 8/6-8/10 and 8/13-8/17
Optional: V-A 8/20-8/24 and V-B 8/27-8/31

- Assist in the delivery and supervision of all water activities and special events at the
waterfront.
3. Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the waterfront
program area
- Conduct daily check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
- Clean waterfront area daily keeping it free of hazards and debris.
4. Participate fully and appropriately in camp activities outside of the waterfront area during unassigned times at camp.

General Summary:
Monitors a beach front area to make sure all swimmers are following safety rules and constantly scanning the waterfornt. Camp has an outdoor swim area, meaning that all lifeguards need to be prepared to spend days outside and manage sun exposure for both themselves and swimmers. Lifeguards may be responsible for designing instructional programs for swimmers and are expected to participate in other aspects of camp as well. Norwich Lifeguards must have current lifeguard certification from the YMCA or American Red Cross.
Requirements:
- • Current certification in YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Prior experience at a similar waterfront.
• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors in the water.
• Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of work.
• Must be able to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI).
