The successful candidate must be an avid reader of contemporary literary fiction, have a disciplined mind with a knack for organization, and a reasonable knowledge of Excel. Additionally we need somebody with excellent orthographic skills who is able to write and communicate well via email, who can find the Zen in repetitive tasks, and who enjoys playing well with others. Because public transportation to South Hadley can be challenging, we require potential candidates to have their own transportation. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving customers, creating displays, assisting with the production of marketing materials for the store. This position requires standing for up to four hours at a time and the ability to lift and carry boxes of books up to 40 pounds. This is a part time position (approx 22-25 hours/week) with some benefits, such as a significant staff discount, all of the publisher advance reading copies you can carry, and being able to rub elbows with some of the most exciting authors writing today. Starting salary is $12.50/hour. Actual schedule is TBD but expect to work at least 1-2 nights/week and most Saturdays.
