Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Director of Regional and Parent Programs position. The Director of Regional and Parent Programs is a full-time, year round position, job group and level SM-4. The Director directs strategy and day-to-day work of the Regional Programs team in executing nearly 200 alumni/parent programs and events each year, and 2) guides management activities that support Regional partners and 3) supports parent communication and parent participation in Regional and campus programs.

Takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Directs strategy and day-to-day work of the Regional Programs team
• The Director of Regional and Parent Programs leads two other staff in strategizing and executing nearly 200 regional programs for alumni and parents each year, with a goal of providing a diverse and engaging program of events and activities.
• Collaborates and coordinates within Advancement to ensure smooth communication around events, initiatives, hosts, and key individuals, as well as recruitment and training of regional alumni volunteers.
• Works closely with faculty, development officers, Admission, the President's Office, the Study Abroad/International Offices, and multiple other administrative partners to create successful regional programs and to maximize alumni and parent engagement.
• Supports regional programs around networking and affinity, and collaborates with the Loeb Center for Career Exploration, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Athletics, and other partners to make these programs effective.
• The Director applies metrics and analysis to make decisions about resources for regional programs and to assist volunteers in focusing their efforts for the greatest possible impact.
• The Director supports recruitment and training of regional alumni volunteers, and guides volunteer management practices and materials that serve to sustain interest and engagement in accordance with the college's mission.
• The Director takes the lead on and primary responsibility for the development of all Presidential and campaign events.
• The Director leads the evaluation and refinement of core programs such as Summer Send-off and Telecast.

Constituent Management - Parent Communication and programming
• The Director collaborates with on-campus partners to shape key parent communications with a focus on new parents, and parent participation in Family Weekend.
• Collaborates with the Director of Family Giving.
• Helps shape Summer Send-off events with inclusive practices in mind, and with a focus on the new family audience.
• Through communications, supports parent participation in regional programs.
• Uses evaluation tools to assess value of regional, digital, and onsite program initiatives for parents.
• Develops content for Family Weekend.
• Partners with the On-Campus team on the implementation of Family Weekend.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
• Bachelor's Degree
• 5 years of experience in non-profit organizations or a related field
• Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
• Experience supporting volunteers/board members
• Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively in a complex programming environment
• Strong leadership and team-building skills
• Experience working with diverse populations
