Description:
The Jones Library, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented, positive and energetic Gardener/Laborer to perform a variety of skilled/semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of the Jones Library, North Amherst, and Kinsey Memorial Gardens. Duties include litter and trash removal from assigned areas; planting, seeding, weeding, pruning, sweeping, watering and raking; operating lawn care equipment including push mowers, leaf blowers and lawn trimmers and litter and trash removal from assigned areas, transporting debris for disposal. This is a seasonal, part-time position (May-October; 8 hours per week with a set morning or afternoon schedule). Please provide contact information for 3 professional references. Requirements:
Requires high school diploma/GED, and any combination of experience or specialized training demonstrating ability to perform above duties safely and efficiently. Some knowledge of equipment, methods and procedures used in landscaping and maintenance of buildings and grounds; skill in operation of the listed tools and equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of proper care of both annual and perennial plantings, as well as shrubs, bushes, and trees. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
