Description:
Family Partner - Hadley/Northampton, MA
Part time (30 hours per week). This is a temporary role to cover a leave, with the possibility of continuing employment based on program needs. Berkshire Children and Families seeks a Family Partner to provide one-on-one support to parents or caregivers of youth who have mental health needs. This is done primarily through the Family Partner joining with the caregiver using their own “lived experience” of also parenting a child with special needs. The Family Partner will work collaboratively with the family and other agencies as part of a larger team. The Family Partner will engage parents in activities that are designed to meet the goals on the youth’s care plan under the guidelines of Mass Health. The objective is to assist parents in learning how to manage and advocate for their child’s emotional and behavioral needs by improving the capacity of the parent/caregiver to use various services and supports. Experience as parent/guardian of a child with special needs or significant mental health needs living in your home past or present is required. Bi-lingual preferred. Must also have experience working with children or families in a more formal way. Flexible hours, occasional evenings. Competitive pay rate and benefits. Send cover letter and resume to Paula McDermott, BCF, 480 West Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 or pmcdermott@berkshirechildren.org. AA/EOE.
