Join the DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Team!

For ten months, 19 DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps members create positive youth development opportunities in schools and local agencies throughout the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. AmeriCorps members use a collaborative, student-centered approach to support young people’s autonomy, belonging and personal learning aspirations. They use arts and experiential learning activities to create spaces where youth can develop meaningful goals, drive their own solutions, make decisions, fail, learn and grow.

The DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Program (DSAP) has three core elements:
• On-site youth work at a local school or nonprofit.
• Team service project in collaboration with youth and community.
• Weekly training and reflection to build youth work skills and increase knowledge of different learning styles, social justice issues, arts integration, motivational interviewing, asset-based community development, group dynamics and facilitation.

The DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Members serving at Enchanted Circle Theater will:

• Support all aspects of Arts Integration program management including program research, set up, documentation, and assessment.
• Support the programming department with program management, direct onsite program and project support, and everyday program logistics. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Support Teaching Artists in all aspects of their work from preparation to implementation.
o Working with TA’s on curriculum research and lesson plans, gathering of materials.
o Assisting and supporting youth in the classroom or community programs in their self-efficacy skills (autonomy, confidence and competency).
o Support Director of Programs and Operations and Programming Associate in the scheduling of school and community based programs.
o Assist in tracking of program paperwork (project logs, parent letters and surveys, invites and performance programs).
o Support Programming Department in administrative tasks (including typing, copying, filing, organizing information relevant to youth served).
• Assemble and distribute materials to school and community programs as needed.
• Attend and participate in staff, teaching artist and community meetings.
• Support PA in the oversight, coordination and sharing of costumes/props, educational supplies and materials, sound equipment and ECT banner and backdrop equipment among program staff.
• Document the arts integration programs using photographs, video, short articles, etc.
• Support in the coordination of all program materials and supplies from props and sets acquisition and creation to purchase or ordering of books, art supplies and costumes.
• Network and represent ECT within the community (meetings/events) to enhance and support ECT’s mission and future collaborations.

Requirements:
Members must be at least 18 years old and U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or lawful Permanent Residents. Youth work experience is recommended, but not required. Some work history is necessary. Because part of the region is rural, it is highly beneficial to have a driver’s license with access to reliable transportation.
