Description:
Franklin County Regional Housing and Redevelopment Authority has an opportunity for a full time bookkeeper. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for the processing of payables, receivables, and invoicing on a daily basis and other documents. This position will be required to complete a variety of clerical tasks in support of the financial department along with other related entities of the housing authority.
Essential job functions:
Prepare weekly and monthly accounts payable, including housing assistance payments to landlords, process cash requirement reports, and process checks with appropriate back up documentation. Responsible for administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
General qualifications:
Demonstrated success working within a team environment as well as independently. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Ability to organize and plan work in a timely manner and to handle a high volume of demanding work.
Knowledge and understanding of double entry accounting.
Educational and experience:
Minimum high school diploma or GED, with 3 or more years of bookkeeping/accounting experience or Associates degree in accounting.
Experience with state and federal funding sources is a plus.
Experience with computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite with special attention to excel and word.
Experience with housing authority, municipal or not for profit accounting preferable.
Knowledge of state and federal funding sources helpful.
