Overview:

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is a dynamic, fast-pace environment, who is seeking a creative and motivated individual looking to utilize his/her development, patron management, and event planning skills to join a growing team. The Development Associate is responsible for supporting the development strategies for the organization including audience development, database management, donor tracking, annual fund appeals, volunteer coordination, and event management. The Development Associate, reporting to the Director of Development, will coordinate a variety of events, including our annual fundraising gala, and silent and live auctions, and act as box office back up. This individual embraces thought leadership; continually driven to finding new and innovative ways to improve the organization.


Core Responsibilities:
• Produce, distribute and record Annual Fund appeals according to best practices
• Coordinate “thank you” responses to donors
• Manage benefit fulfillment
• Manage donor database, including appropriate tracking of donations/donor touches, generation of appropriate lists, and assessment of current system
• Provide assistance in the coordination of organization-wide development-related messaging and scheduling across platforms (e-newsletter, website, Facebook, etc.) in collaboration with Marketing associates
• Manage special fundraising events
• Coordinate volunteer teams on various fundraisers
• Assist marketing with promotional tasks
• Attend all SSO concerts and assist with marketing and development patron management and stewardship
• Assist in ticket sales and box office mailings
• Manage Box Office operation when Box Office manager is out of the office
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Communications is preferred, or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years in non-profit, strong customer service skills, sales, or marketing preferred
• Strong database management and data mining skills
• Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences across a variety of platforms, including social media.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage donors and board members, work effectively with others, and demonstrate leadership and professionalism at all times
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience using databases management software required, knowledge of Choice system preferred
• Experience planning events desirable
• Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail and constant follow through with an ability to juggle multiple tasks and successfully set priorities and meet deadlines
• An ability to work a variety of weekends and evenings as needed
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record required
