Red Fire Farm is a leader in organic veggie production in the beautiful Pioneer Valley in western Massachusetts. We have about 100 acres in cultivation and grow just about every veggie that can be grown in this climate. We sell produce through our CSA program, wholesale, farmers markets, and farm stand. We are dedicated to a seriously high quality standard and hold a deep belief in organic practices. We're a large production farm with the heart and soul of a tiny operation. Red Fire Farm is looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a creative eye to work in our flower and greenhouse departments. The ideal candidate has farm experience and a passion for fieldwork that will see themselves caring for our flower crop, from transplanting to bouquet making for our flower CSA, markets, and wholesale accounts. The flower assistant must be available through mid-September.
Seed vegetable and flower starts and assist with greenhouse tomato care
Propagation, transplanting, and general care of greenhouse plants
Watering and venting greenhouse (includes weekend work rotations)
Fieldwork including weeding, harvesting, and cultivation of flowers
Preparation of bouquets for scheduled deliveries
Assistance with greenhouse and vegetable farm activities, as needed
Driver’s license not required, but must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in all conditions
Position begins immediately and runs through mid-September. Complete availability through completion of flower season is an absolute must. Winter work in other farm departments may be available.
Typical hours are 6 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch, plus occasional weekend watering as needed. Due to the nature of farming, all crew are expected to be available to work on the holidays that occur during the active farming season, and to be flexible with the length of work days during the season.
Location: This position is based at 184 Meadow Road, Montague, MA
Pay: $11/hr, plus all the organic veggies you can eat!
