The Head of School will be the face of Amherst Montessori School, both to our school community and to the surrounding community while balancing the myriad demands of running a small independent school. The Head of School will work collaboratively and communicate effectively with our staff, children, families, and Board of Trustees. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • executing and supervising efficient management and daily operations of the school; • marketing educational programs; • maintaining/growing enrollment; • recruiting, retaining, and developing high-quality staff; • complying with state regulations; • implementing a strategic plan; • nurturing our joyful and collaborative school culture; • implementing the mission of our organization; • fostering a strong school community; • developing and executing a fundraising plan; • ensuring overall financial budgets are created and adhered to; and • resolving challenging student/parent issues. Preferred applicants should have five years of experience as a school administrator or director, or five years of leadership experience in another, related industry (such as a nonprofit community service agency). Experience with Montessori education and/or private school administration preferred. DEEC Director II certification or ability to acquire it is also preferred.
