Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Counselor at the Opportunity House at Behavioral Health Network! As a Counselor, you will support the growth, independence, and safety of the individuals we serve. Counselors oversee individuals’ activities to ensure compliance with program activities and policies and provide guidance and direct counseling. In addition, Counselors develop and facilitate treatment plans and diverse psycho-educational groups and provide crisis intervention and emergency services when needed. They also assist individuals with aftercare planning by providing referrals and access to appropriate agencies and provide transportation for them with insured and registered personal vehicles, as needed.

Other responsibilities of Counselors include communicating with other staff members as needed and completing program specific documentation such as incident reports and progress notes, as well as reporting specific safety concerns. Counselors at BHN work collaboratively with program supervisors to ensure quality of services for individuals served. Counselors learn to work as a collaborative team with the goal of delivering high quality sound clinical treatment. Counselors will grow through ongoing training and firsthand experience that will enhance their skills and provide additional employment opportunities.

At the Opportunity House, Behavioral Health Network provides a structured setting for men 18 year of age and older to progress from early recovery to a productive community living environment. Our 24-hour long-term residential program assists individuals using a variety of services, including counseling, case management, education and pre-vocational services, and family reunification. Behavioral Health Network is a growing non-profit community behavioral health agency that has been providing services to children, adults, families and communities in Western Massachusetts since 1938. BHN provides comprehensive, outcome-driven behavioral health care. We are dedicated to offering high quality, affordable and culturally appropriate care to people of all ages and income levels in our constituent communities.
Requirements:
Counselors at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:
•Must be committed to empowerment and growth, human rights, and community integration for individuals served.
•Familiarity with Internet, word processing and email systems.
•Have a working knowledge of DPH Bureau of Substance Abuse regulations.
•Must be LADCI or LADCII or equivalent.
•Must have 1-2 years experience in Human Services with minimum of one year experience working in substance treatment environment.
•High School Diploma or G.E.D.
•Valid Driver’s License.
