Description:
Hilltown Community Health Centers seeks a passionate advocate to work in its Huntington office with the primary responsibility for providing safety planning, crisis intervention, court accompaniment, education, and support to survivors who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence.

The Domestic Violence Victim Advocate will provide domestic violence advocacy services to residents of the Hilltowns in collaboration with local law enforcement and community service providers as part of a Community Health Team in order to address the full spectrum of needs required for safety and success. Work in collaboration with State and local police, court personnel, Community Health Workers and other HCHC staff, local health and social service providers, and our partners Safe Passage and the Southern Hilltown Domestic Violence Task Force to support hilltown victims/survivors of abuse. The Domestic Violence Advocate will provide adult and child survivors of domestic violence with support, advocacy, and assistance, including: assessing their circumstances and emergency needs and providing assistance to meet those needs; safety planning; general support and education about the dynamics of domestic violence; referrals to needed resources; transportation to support services (if needed); court accompaniment; helping prepare for court; home visits( if it is determined to be safe based on the program’s safety protocol); support to the friends or family of victims/survivors who are part of the victim/survivor support team; offer individual counseling; and assist with outreach and education efforts in conjunction with our partners. The Advocate will work with victims/survivors for as long as support is needed, recognizing that domestic violence is a complex problem from which it can take years to recover.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated commitment to providing survivors of domestic violence with affirming, culturally relevant (including rural, LGBTQ, immigrants, and survivors living with disabilities), holistic, accessible, trauma-informed, strength-based victim services and advocacy. Experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence and/or children strongly preferred.
Hilltown Community Health Centers’ mission is to create access to high quality integrated health care and promote well-being for individuals, families and our communities.
