Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Recovery Specialist at the Carlson Recovery Center at Behavioral Health Network! Recovery Specialists strive to provide high quality community-based care to all individuals working to improve their substance use and mental health issues. Recovery Specialists establish and maintain therapeutic and collaborative relationships with them as they work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or LPN. They organize care activities for the individuals and units, and they assist counselors and nurses facilitating these activities, ensuring that they incorporate results of these activities in the individuals’ care. Recovery Specialists maintain strict confidentiality of individuals’ information as they perform intakes, admissions and discharges, obtain and process insurance information, and respond appropriately to clinical emergencies. Finally, they are flexible in response to staffing needs by assisting doctors and nurses with exams and simple procedures, measuring and recording vital signs, and transporting individuals to appointments and aftercare, when needed.

The Carlson Recovery Center in Springfield, MA serves those 18 years of age and older who are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction within the first 5-7 days of their recovery. The 32-bed program is also open to those who are under a court order to seek treatment. A 24-hour multidisciplinary team, including a Medical Director, a board-certified Family Physician, and an Addiction Medicine Physician, provides acute treatment and detoxification services.

Requirements:
Recovery Specialists at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:
• Competency in simple mathematics, reading comprehension, written and oral communications, following instructions, simple use of charts, reports and records.
• Knowledge of development stages for adult population and applies developmental theories and concepts when planning and implementing care for individuals served.
• Knowledge and skill in assisting individuals served with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Ability to understand, empathize and work with an addicted population and mentally ill population.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) credentials (preferred).
