Description:
We are hiring an Assistant Manager for our retail store, EcoBuilding Bargains, the largest reclaimed building materials store in New England. The Assistant Manager is responsible for enhancing customer satisfaction and effectively managing staff. Are you a self-starter who likes a fast paced, high energy and changing environment? Job Responsibilities:
Retail Sales Leadership: Manages the daily activities of the Retail Sales team including assigning projects, directing engagement with customers, and delegating daily tasks. Provides coaching and guidance on customer communications, store mission and other routine and non-routine situations. Helps staff achieve sales targets. Ensures training for retail sales staff on the sales process, customer service standards, building materials and POS system. Provides ongoing performance feedback to retail sales staff and develops and delivers quarterly reviews. Communicates and enforces store policies and standards.

Customer Service and Sales: Assists customers to attain sales. Works with Store Manager to meet or exceed sales goals. Educates customers about the store’s mission, policies, donation procedures, and the organization’s environmental mission. Handles customer questions, complaints, and issues. Assists customers with identifying solutions for their building needs. Provides customers with assistance in loading and unloading their vehicles. Assists with cashier functions and retail sales. Provides expertise in sales of building materials.

Merchandizing: Works on store displays. Identifies pricing discrepancies, reviews promotions and merchandising and communicates with management if EcoBuilding Bargains standards are not being met. Keep up with fluctuating supply and demand. Maintain store's cleanliness and health and safety measures.

Requirements:
Commitment to community non-profit mission of EcoBuilding Bargains and CET. College degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in a retail sales environment with home construction/renovation focus preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience managing cash business. Experience or aptitude MS Office software and inventory software and systems. Helpful if bilingual English/Spanish.

Strong interpersonal and sales skills including listening, verbal and written with the ability to work with both customers and staff. Management style should be self-starter, hands-on, friendly, flexible, motivational and high-achieving.

Physically able to lift heavy objects (50 pounds) as needed. Must be able to move freely (including twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, etc.) to perform job duties.
