Description:
Advocate (Spanish-speaking), 15 hours, Springfield. Offer peer-to-peer support, group facilitation, assistance with finding resources, and more based primarily in the Western Mass Recovery Learning Community’s Springfield Center. Multiple positions available. $15.00 to $17.00 per hour (depending on completion of trainings, and bilingual and related abilities)
Requirements:
Required: First-hand experience with psychiatric diagnosis (you yourself being given a diagnosis), hospitalization (you yourself being hospitalized), homelessness (you yourself living without a home), problems with substances (you yourself struggling with addiction or problems with substances), and/or other life-interrupting challenges. Commitment to challenging racism, sexism, and other types of systemic oppression, and developing multicultural environments that can create a sense of belonging. Must be able to speak and write in both Spanish and English.

Preferred/A Plus: Knowledge of local resources; Knowledge of peer support and related movements. Bilingual/bicultural (bilingual in Spanish/English or ASL/English) a big plus (and required for some hours); Intentional Peer Support, Alternatives to Suicide, Hearing Voices, and/or other peer support trainings.

Note: Although this position is 15 hours, the right candidate may be able to combine this position with one of our other positions available to form a 30+ hours position. Additional per diem hours working in our Springfield, Holyoke, and other centers will also periodically be available.
