Description: | Deerfield Academy is seeking a part-time, temporary, Group Leader for the Deerfield Academy Out of School program for children in grades K-6.
Reporting to the Site Coordinator, the Group Leader will work with the teaching team to develop and implement an appropriate curriculum for school aged children, including academic support during scheduled remote learning times.
Primary responsibilities include, to ensure the health and well-being of the children in the Out of School program, including all aspects of physical and emotional nurturing, while maintaining a safe, stimulating, and comfortable environment, in accordance with Early Education & Care (EEC) regulations; support distance learning using guidance from the public school; assist teaching team with curriculum, including planning, preparation and set up of materials, and delivery of daily curriculum; communicate regularly with parents; assist with distribution of snacks and lunches, maintaining safe food handling policies and practices and adhere to safety policies and procedures including evacuation and emergency procedures, in conformance with state and EEC standards and regulations. |
Requirements: | The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associates’ Degree and three months of experience working with school age children; or have a high school diploma and six months of experience working school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program; possess an understanding of child growth and development; general knowledge of nutrition, health and first aid, the ability to calmly handle stressful and emergency situations; willingness to serve as a mandated reporter; ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
Documentation of good physical health and current immunizations is required by EEC. Participation in re-opening and essential trainings as outlined by the EEC is required.
Hours of operation are from 8:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. The Program is currently scheduled to run until November 20, however may be extended depending on the frequency of in person learning in the Union #38 Public School System.
All Group Leaders are subject to criminal background checks as well as fingerprinting for EEC and MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). |
