Description:
Deerfield Academy seeks an experienced Director of Institutional Research.

Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs and Strategy, the Director of Institutional Research will provide information and analysis required to execute the school’s strategic initiatives. They will collect, develop, analyze and communicate institutional data and other information to constituents throughout the school, to support and enhance informed decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning, policy development, and institutional self-assessment & improvement. The most qualified candidate will be an intellectually vibrant independent contributor capable of overcoming challenges, solving problems, and enhancing any team of which they are a part. Responsibilities include: extract and analyze currently recorded institutional data, via statistical and other methods; independently interpret results of qualitative- and quantitative-data analyses; clearly communicate results via different formats to diverse audiences (e.g. concise information-rich visualizations and written- or verbal-communications to colleagues with varied math backgrounds); identify gaps in current institutional data collection and establish systems that address those gaps, with the intention of eventual analysis leading to institutional improvement (e.g. teaching & learning, employee retention, and campus climate); acquire, manipulate, develop, and maintain longitudinal data sets verifying accuracy and consistency over time (e.g. Academic Audit); conduct and/or assist on a wide variety of survey research efforts; participate in survey construction, development of survey instruments, and design of survey protocols and procedures; design, build, and maintain an easily accessible dashboard of key Academy-wide metrics; and support internal and/or external queries and requests for institutional data and statistics.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, and 5-7 years of institutional research experience; excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; experience in an independent secondary school, college or university setting preferred; ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports for both qualitative- and quantitative-date; ability to apply statistical principles and processes to meet a range of information requirements; demonstrated knowledge of software used to manipulate, summarize, and produce reports from multiple, large, complex data sets (both qualitative and quantitative); ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research data and findings; knowledge of statistical and analytical survey instruments, protocol, and procedures; knowledge of large-scale data systems, definitions, and procedures; ability to analyze statistical data and generate reports, and design and administer survey instruments; demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, and to serving the needs of a diverse community; ability to manage and sensitivity to highly confidential information; ability to work independently as well as part of a team; and possess a high degree of energy and flexibility.
