We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to perform general building and grounds maintenance and repair duties for properties located in Southwick.

At Way Finders, we light pathways and open doors to homes and communities where people thrive. Way Finders is the largest affordable housing organization in western Massachusetts. Since 1983, our Real Estate Division has acquired properties and transformed neighborhoods with the design and planning of new housing and the renovation of existing properties. Most recently, Way Finders provided affordable housing for low-income families with the completion of Live 155, The Lumber Yard, and Sergeant House in Northampton, and will soon complete construction of Library Commons in Holyoke.

The candidate will work fully onsite and must be available for on-call duties on a rotating schedule and as needed.

Responsibilities include:
-Ensure the continuous maintenance of rental properties in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
-Prepare, maintain, and update units in a timely and professional manner including painting; appliance, cabinetry, flooring, and other replacements; mold and lead paint remediation; sheetrocking; routine repairs in plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, HVAC; and more as necessary
-Perform and document weekly internal property inspections
-Communicate complex maintenance, repairs, and advised improvements to appropriate personnel
-Prepare and show apartments/buildings to third-party inspectors and officials
-Develop and maintain professional and collaborative work relationships with staff, tenants, inspectors, constituents, and stakeholders
-Identify, report, and make modifications for tenants with mobility and accessibility challenges (e.g. wheelchair ramps)
-Create, track, and report all work orders in a clear and efficient manner in agency system
-On-call duties as scheduled
-Ability to travel to other locations in the organization’s portfolio as required

Requirements include:
-High school graduate or the equivalent
-2 years’ technical or trade training in building or equipment maintenance and repairs
-Strong working knowledge of building and mechanical operation equipment and repairs
-Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner
-Ability to understand relevant details on blueprints and specifications
-Excellent customer service skills with the ability to serve diverse populations
-Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; reliable vehicle
-Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
-CORI/MVR
