Description:

We are searching for an mature, patient, and loving person to provide a Shared Living home in the Amherst area.

UCP of Western Massachusetts is providing an exciting opportunity for a caregiver to receive a tax-free monthly stipend by opening their home and heart to a young man. This individual is on the Autism Spectrum, has some mental health challenges, and needs supports and supervision to continue living as independently as possible. He is very active and enjoys being out in the community as well as physical activity.   He has support during day hours from staff that have worked with him for a long time and work very well together to support him. He also has a very invested mother who would be available for supports. This position could be either welcoming him to be part of your home, or living in his home. It can be shared between more than one care giver, or a couple. 

The role of the Shared Living provider is to provide care to an individual with disabilities. This position includes supporting him in meal planning, shopping, cooking, housekeeping, medication management, and all areas of living more independently. 

The Shared living provider will be supported in their caregiver role with training and guidance from UCP case management services.  Tax free monthly stipend.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Be a responsible person who is at least 18 years old
  • Understsanding and supportive of individuals with disabilities 
  • Must be able to provide a  home atmosphere conducive to learning and growing
  • Must be willing to compete all relevant agency trainings
  • Must have experience with Autism and Developmental Disabilities
  • Must have experience with behavioral support strategies
  • Valid driver's license
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain 
  • Ability to pass a CORI/SORI Background check
  • Qualified accomodations- Single family home or apartment with an extra bedroom
