Description:

The Deerfield Academy Communications Office team seeks a dynamic visual storyteller with an eye for detail to join their department. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications and in collaboration with the Communications Office team, the Multimedia and Digital Engagement Manager will advise on strategy and direction related to multimedia assets; create/gather, curate, and update a steady flow of video, audio, and photo assets in support of Deerfield Academy’s various digital and print platforms, including the Academy’s primary website: Deerfield.edu. As a key member of the Communications Office’s creative team, will ensure that digital assets are in alignment with the institution’s strategic goals, brand guidelines, and additional communications products.

 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

Developing documentary-style videos in support of the Academy’s strategic goals and priorities;  participate in strategic planning related to multimedia; develop video campaign concepts, treatments, scripts, storyboards, and shot lists in support of the offices of Advancement, Admission, and the institution as a whole; conceptualize and pitch concepts to partners in Advancement, Admission, the Head of School’s Office, and other departments as needed; plan, schedule, and direct video shoots and interviews, often with key stakeholders; edit, polish, and distribute videos in collaboration with other members of the creative team;on occasion, evaluate, hire, coordinate, and manage outside filmmakers and photographers to facilitate video work and special projects.

Shoot video and still photography: Develop, organize, and manage a stock collection of “B roll” and photos to support digital and print publications; record School Meetings and other academic and cocurricular events for archival and production purposes; respond to, evaluate, and prioritize requests for photo and video assets; shoot to art director briefs or to supplement other materials.

Manage the Academy’s video and photo assets: Ensure that the Communications Office’s photo and video equipment is in working order, prepared for use, and accounted for by maintaining an inventory of all photo/video equipment;manage the digital photo library (import and catalog photos, assist in photo selection based on creative priorities, organize collections and archives) to ensure ease of use for various departments on campus and outside creative teams as necessary; manage the Academy’s video library, with particular attention to long-term storage and retrieval;advise on purchasing photo and video equipment to maintain the highest levels of quality and productivity in digital and print platforms.

Assist with basic website maintenance:Update content on the Academy’s externally-facing website: Deerfield.edu; advise on video and photo assets specific to Deerfield.edu; assist in the production of electronic materials.

Requirements:

Qualified applicants must possess: Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Photography, Cinematography, Media Production, Communications, or related field; 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in media production, including photography and cinematography or video experience; Experience in setting creative strategy for video;extensive knowledge of video and photo editing software and content management systems (Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut, WordPress); ability to create, recreate, redesign or adjust materials in Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with posting digital media online; excellent communication and project management skills; demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
