Lending Specialist (Bilingual)

Interested in joining our team of dedicated professionals? Way Finders is currently seeking a full-time bilingual (English/Spanish) Lending Specialist. The Lending Specialist supports our mission by managing all community lending programs and related loan programs in a manner that maximizes customer understanding, success in qualifying for and obtaining loans, and provides overall equity and diversity to the larger community.

The candidate will work fully onsite.  Occasional travel during the workday is required.

Responsibilities include:
•    Administer current housing, affordable down payment assistance, and related loan programs as assigned by providing exceptional customer service, to include assisting with the application and/or closing process, post-closing loan servicing, deed-restricted property resales, and other tasks as appropriate and assigned
•    Process loans from set-up to closing by verifying, compiling, and entering borrower information into loan processing systems
•    Review loan application files to verify that all data is complete and meets standards, including borrower income, assets, liabilities, and employment
•    Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, housing authorities, and internal policies during loan application process; create and maintain accurate, timely, and detailed customer records to further ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement
•    Educate customers on state and federal programs, associated attributes, conditions, and eligibility requirements
•    Provide technical guidance, training, and assistance to staff on program guidelines, processes, resource availability, and in the resolution of involved or complex matters
•    Cultivate and maintain leads pipeline to ensure customer satisfaction and progress
•    Prepare, review, and process invoices and disbursements for rehabilitation loans
•    Establish and maintain strong relationship/partnership with lending institutions
•    Perform outreach to community agencies and industry partners as needed
•    Inform the Director and/or leadership of any issues that may adversely affect the department or organization
•    Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal staff and external business lines
•    Conduct presentations to external community partners as opportunities arise
•    Attend meetings, trainings, and informational sessions as needed
•    Remain current on trends and developments in homeownership, loan programs, and service offerings, eligibility, and related guidelines

Requirements include:
•    2 years' equivalent experience in commercial and retail banking, mortgage lending, or a related role, with 1 year as a field specialist; a combination of experience plus an Associate degree may be a substitute
•    Homeownership counseling experience preferred
•    Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skill required 
•    Knowledge of bankruptcy laws, mortgage rates and conditions, short sales, deeds, IRS rules, and contract agreements and privacy laws
•    Adept computer skills including the Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and databases, with comfort learning new technologies
•    Demonstrated facilitation, coaching, counseling, customer support, or case management skills
•    Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations required in the analysis of financial and loan information
•    Solid analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
•    Ability to handle multiple priorities and achieve goals in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
•    Ability to occasionally travel during the workday for inspections, events, and other program-related appointments
•    CORI and SAM check, as per funding requirement
