  • Assist with the development and implementation of animal care and feeding plans, under the supervision of the Facilities Director and in collaboration with Animal Science instructors.
  • Coordinate veterinary visits and outside animal care services, and align them with student learning activities when appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of animal health and welfare in the school’s shared digital systems.
  • Coordinate, under the direction of the Facilities Director, the maintenance and repair of farm vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Support the Facilities Director in managing the farm’s operational budget and ordering supplies and equipment in accordance with school policies.
  • Provide regular updates to the Facilities Director regarding ongoing projects, operational issues, and emergency events.
  • Meet with the Animal Science Department to align animal care activities with instructional objectives and support student learning outcomes.
  • Assist in scheduling Farm Technicians and Animal Care Technicians to ensure proper staffing coverage for daily operations and student support.
  • Help coordinate the placement, rotation, and housing of animals in collaboration with school personnel, maintaining both instructional and welfare needs.
  • Supervise student workers during off-school hours, providing guidance during farm work assignments as directed.

Emergency Response Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to farm-related emergencies, including animal injuries or illnesses, equipment malfunctions, fire hazards, and weather-related incidents.
  • Administer first-response animal care or secure veterinary support following school protocols.
  • Implement immediate safety measures to protect students, staff, and animals in the event of hazardous situations (e.g., animal escapes, equipment failure, power outages).
  • Notify the Facilities Director, instructional staff, or emergency personnel according to established emergency protocols.
  • Ensure that emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, first aid kits, spill kits) is functional, accessible, and routinely inspected.
  • Assist with documentation following incidents and support any necessary reports or investigations.
