Accounts Payable Specialist

Finance Department - Accounting

 

The Town of Amherst seeks an Accounts Payable Specialist to perform a variety of accounting and administrative duties in maintaining the Town’s accounts payable system and providing general backup support to the Finance Department. Work includes administering and processing accounts payable and vendor payments, assisting with requisitions and the purchase of supplies and services, and providing payroll backup.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field, PLUS three (3) to five (5) years of accounting, accounts payable, processing vendor payments or similar experience; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position. 

  • Working knowledge of modern records management techniques
  • Ability to accurately record and maintain records
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment
