MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Two (2) years’ experience working in a school, after-school, or camp setting; AND a degree in, or in the process of completing a degree program in, Education, Childhood Development, Psychology/Social Work or other developmental discipline with a focus on elementary-aged children; OR equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong leadership abilities
- Considerable knowledge of child development and management.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other camp or recreation employees and supervisors
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to plan and supervise work of staff and volunteers
- Basic computer skills or willingness to learn
- Willingness and ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours
- Must successfully pass Criminal Offender Registry Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background checks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of college experience
- Strong personal experience in interactive extracurricular activities (g., arts, sports, clubs)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must provide three (3) professional references.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to spend time in office settings, with time spent on the phone/at a computer. Other demands consistent with working with children.
