Golf Course Attendant
Recreation Department

The Town of Amherst Recreation Department seeks Golf Course Attendants.  This position has two different parts - Customer Service at Pro Shop and Starter/Ranger on the Golf Course. It is not necessary to have experience in both.

Customer Service at Pro Shop: Maintains, prices, and stocks inventory; manages payments; and performs housekeeping duties.

Starter/Ranger on the Golf Course: Monitors play and enforces club rules at opening tees and across the golf course.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older.  High School degree or equivalent PLUS one year of participation in the game of golf on a recreational basis, OR any combination of related education and experience.

  • Demonstrated customer service experience; ability to provide proficient customer servicing with customers, merchants, the general public, and other employees.
  • Knowledge of golf’s game, rules, regulations. Familiarity with community golf facilities and equipment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact and communicate respectfully with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate office equipment including computer, credit card reader, cash register, and other standard office equipment. Ability to perform data entry. Ability to generate computer reports. Ability to count and record inventory. Ability to use computer software such as MS Office Word and Excel.
  • Ability to coordinate golf game schedules and work with the general public, greens employees, staff, supervision, and merchants.
  • Ability to operate golf course equipment and golf carts.
  • Ability to use independent judgement.
