Job title: Hilltown Pantry Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Program Director, with supervision from the Assistant Program Director
Salary range: $20 – $22 per hour based on experience
Job type: Part-time (approximately 10 hours) per week
Start date: Somewhat flexible, with intended start in August or September, 2025
Benefits: 401k and matching benefits are available. Holidays, sick time, and paid vacation. Employees working fewer than 25 hours per week are not eligible for health insurance or dental benefits through the Center.
Location: 40 Main Street, Goshen, MA (plus coordination and meeting with staff at 265 Prospect Street, Northampton, MA)
Summary: The Hilltown Pantry Manager is responsible for running the pantry during its one open day per week (Wednesdays), including:
• Coordinating the distribution of food to clients outdoors at the pantry and delivery of food to clients off site
• Promoting an atmosphere of dignity and respect to ensure a welcoming and personalized client care experience
• Managing a team of volunteers
• Working with our Northampton-based staff team to procure food, coordinate programming, and report on data

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Hilltown Pantry is an essential source of food for over 200 low-income individuals living in the Hilltowns. The pantry is open one day per week – every Wednesday between 1 and 3. Extended hours until 6 pm once a month were in place before the pandemic, and may be reinstated.
The position works indoors in a fairly climate-controlled environment as well as outdoors distributing food to clients. Must be able to stand for long periods and safely lift 50 pounds routinely.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
• Approximately 10 hours a week, including a full 7-hour day each Wednesday (9 to 4), as well as 3 additional hours on other days for meeting, coordinating with staff in Northampton, and facilitating deliveries.
• The full staff meets for weekly staff meetings from noon to 1 pm on Mondays, and the Hilltown Pantry Manager is encouraged to participate in those meetings as often as possible. The timing of these meetings does shift occasionally, in coordination with each staff person’s availability.
TRAVEL
• Work is primarily performed at the Hilltown Pantry in Goshen
• Meetings with other staff take place in Northampton and via email or videoconferencing.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to be self-directed and able to manage a small volunteer team from a satellite program site, while maintaining contact and collaborative teamwork with staff at our Northampton headquarters
• At least two years of non-profit program or management experience.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Fluency in MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook, plus Google Docs and Sheets.
• Experience working with a database a significant plus.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Sensitive to the needs of persons in crisis and has experience/interest in working in multicultural settings.
• Ability to learn and practice good food handling safety standards.
• Ability to learn required storage practices and inventory management.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including being able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, and excellent driving record
• Experience using relational databases and/or spreadsheets a plus
