Family Support Advocate - $1,500 Sign-on Bonus

Family Support Advocate 
Part time, 30 hours per week, Mon-Fri only.
Additional hours may be available to create a full time opportunity.
Location: Amherst, MA

Family Support Advocate Responsibilities 

Are you looking for rewarding work with adults with different abilities in the community? AWC is a person-centered program which allows participants to craft their own customized Day Program.  As an AWC Family Support Advocate you will provide help with:

- Activities of daily living (eating and going out into the community)
- Socialization and engagement as priorities.

Your day may include:
- Time spent in the community
- At the home
- Any other location that both the member and family deem appropriate

Help the member promote independence in areas such as:
- Hobbies
- Activities or interests
-Guidance around needed life skills

*Some afternoon and evening hours are required.

Family Support Advocate Professional Requirements

  • At least 18 years old with High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Life or work experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, preferably ASD
  • Comfortable with computer applications for case notes; email communications, Microsoft 365/Teams, etc.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Be able to handle emergency situations 
  • Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, availability of private vehicle, up-to-date car insurance
  • CORI, SORI, DPPC and National Fingerprint Check
