Shift Supervisor - Alkemia Perfumes - AMHERST

Alkemia Perfumes is hiring for a Shift Supervisor! As a key part of our daily operations, you and our Chief of Operations will be the heartbeat of our team, orchestrating schedules, motivating staff, creating a positive environment, and ensuring that every task is tackled with efficiency and a sprinkle of pizzazz. Here's what you’ll do:

Coordinate Daily Operations: From order fulfillment to shipping to monitoring inventory and maintaining stock, you'll keep our operations humming along smoothly. Make sure our orders arrive to our customers in Insta-ready condition. You’ll use your best people skills to ensure that our policies, quality standards, and safety procedures are embedded in all aspects of the work. Keep an eye on operating resources and costs to suggest efficiencies. Fulfill and ship orders alongside staff as needed to ensure meeting deadlines. 

Supervise a Small Team: Supervise a small part time staff of 2-4 people. Make and coordinate team schedules. Support team and workspace well-being through troubleshooting, problem-solving, active listening, giving feedback empathetically, and harnessing the good energy and motivation that folks bring to their work. 

Nurture Harmonious Workplace Community: Work closely with our Operations Manager to keep the workspace a place of healthy work-life balance, good vibes, efficient organization, and smooth function. Foster an upbeat culture of caring and supportive interpersonal interactions.

Benefits: Starting annual salary of $42-45k with health and dental insurance and three weeks annual combined paid leave. Typical hours are M-F 8:30 – 4:30, with an occasional flex schedule for a weekend day or half day.

Is This Job for You

• You have a high school diploma. We like all kinds of college diplomas too, but we're more interested in your passion, intelligence, practical skills, and ability to learn
• Problem-solving is your jam! You love puzzles and solutions and can think quickly on your feet
• You delight in all types of diversity, have a variety of interests, have good interpersonal skills, are self-reflective, and enjoy connecting with other people 
• Comfortable navigating the digital landscapes of Slack and G-Suite. Tech savviness with occasionally temperamental office equipment is a plus! 
• You’re responsible, collaborative, quick thinking, and get an endorphin kick from organizing things, completing a variety of small tasks, and keeping things running smoothly
• You like working with other people but you are okay working independently
• You have at least two years of workplace experience being part of an in-person (not remote) team. Bonus points if you've supervised or managed a diverse group of people before!
• You like getting your steps into your day-to-day work. This role is hands-on, so you'll be physically active and need to be able to lift up to 40lbs. 
• You have good manual dexterity and clever hands. Working with some of components and packing orders can be a fiddly process so it’s important that you have an eye for aesthetic details and nimble hands. It helps if you have experience and a love of doing crafting or similar work. 
• You like being around fragrances. Our perfumes are all phthalate and paraben free but we are a perfume company so the workspace is redolent with a variety of interesting scents, some of which might end up getting on you.
