PVPA has an opportunity for a licensed professional practitioner to oversee health services, policies and programs.  The School Nurse, using professional nursing judgement and clinical knowledge, provides health care to students and staff, performs health screenings, assists in developing individualized plans of care and provides health education to the community.  Under the direction of the Director of Student Services and the Head of School, you will:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Massachusetts guidelines, regulations and statutes
  • Collaborate with other professionals, colleagues and community providers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and other school health activities
  • Apply appropriate nursing theory as the basis for decision-making in the school setting while expanding knowledge and skills in response to student health needs
  • Provide direct clinical care including dispensing medications
  • Manage medical records with accurate and precise record keeping
  • Train teaching staff in mandated school health-related topics
  • Follow protocols of the Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Dept. of Public Health
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications;

The successful candidate will minimally hold a BSN degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting) and be computer literate.  Preferred qualifications include:

 

  • Two or more years of experience as a School Nurse in a public or private school.
  • Licensed by Mass Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Licensed by Board of Registration in Nursing
  • Interest or experience in the arts

 

Other Information/Instructions:

 

Salary Range: Full time $64,890 to $73,542 annually.  Additional $1,000 stipend for individuals who hold a DESE license in subject area and potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year.

 

The School Nurse contract is a 40 hour per week work schedule with 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and 5 additional days in August prior to the start of the school year.
