Established in 2015, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Franklin County and North Quabbin (CAC) is an independent, nonprofit organization, that serves as the hub for responding to reports of child sexual abuse, serious physical abuse, and sexual exploitation. Further, the CAC provides a comprehensive array of evidence-based and trauma informed interventions to help children and families heal.

Accredited by the National Children’s Alliance, the CAC has worked with more than 900 children and families in Franklin County and the North Quabbin Region. CAC staff include advocates, mental health clinicians, and medical providers.

In 2024, the CAC received multi-year funding from the Children’s Trust of Massachusetts to work with youth serving organizations (YSOs) (i.e., schools, human service agencies, camps, sports programs, etc.) throughout the region to implement and/or strengthen prevention initiatives within YSOs.

The Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Coordinator provides coaching and on-going consultation to youth-serving organizations, including schools, on the implementation of the Safe Kids Thrive Elements of Prevention.

  • Serve as the primary contact and consultant for YSO’s both interested in and that are a part of a learning cohort implementing SKT’s eight Elements of Prevention
  • Provide brief outreach and education to YSO’s and relevant provider networks and taskforces about the efficacy of the Elements of Prevention and the learning community opportunity
  • Along with other CAC project staff, and under the direction of the CSAP steering committee, recruit target sector YSO’s for each learning cohort (4-6 per LC)
  • Support administrators of YSO’s with coaching and technical assistance to implement the prevention elements, including an organizational audit of existing prevention elements as well as developing an action plan for implementation
  • Lead a monthly roundtable for learning cohort representatives to discuss successes as well as problem solve challenges to implementing the prevention elements
  • Provide outreach and education to YSO’s and relevant provider networks and taskforces about the efficacy of the Elements of Prevention and the learning community opportunity
  • Create and maintain database of LC partners as well as the successes and challenges when implementing the prevention elements
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision
  • Other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor, CAC ED, and/or steering committee

This position will require:

  • A passionate and out-going individual who can build rapport easily and is a team player
  • Someone who lives and/or works in Franklin County or the North Quabbin or has worked in this area and understands the challenges faced by rural communities
  • Experience working in one or more YSO’s/ schools
  • An understanding of the signs of child abuse and the reporting laws in Massachusetts as well as risk and protective factors relating to child abuse
  • Excellent oral and written communication with experience providing training and public speaking
  • Primarily on-site work with regional travel to partner agencies, meetings, and trainings; reliable transportation
  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
