The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority is an organization dedicated to providing essential transportation services to people in the Pioneer Valley region of Western Massachusetts. By offering fixed-route bus service and paratransit service for elderly and disabled individuals, the PVTA helps ensure that everyone in the region can access the transportation they need to get where they need to go. Established by Chapter 161B of the Massachusetts General Laws in 1974, the PVTA has been a vital part of the region's transportation infrastructure for over four decades. As the largest regional transit authority and the second-largest public transit system in Massachusetts, the PVTA serves over 11 million riders annually across 24 municipalities in the region. This system is the primary mode of transportation for approximately 70% of all riders who rely on it to meet their daily commute needs. With its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation services, the PVTA is helping to build stronger communities and connect people to the opportunities they need to succeed. |
