Direct Support Professional- willing to train

Part time -  a variety of hours and schedules available to meet your needs

Location: Palmer, MA 01009 

Are you looking for rewarding work with families and children in need?  UCP, a growing human services agency, works with people with disabilities and their families throughout the Pioneer Valley in their homes and in the community. Our agency provides a variety of services, including Agency with Choice, DESE, and In-home Supports.   You will work with children and adults in Family Support programming and provide emotional support, guidance, and resources to help individuals overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Some afternoon and evening hours may be required.   

Direct Support Professional Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to families in need
  • Assist families in accessing resources and services
  • Advocate for families and children in the community
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and service providers
  • Provide education and training to families on a variety of topics, including parenting, communication, and conflict resolution
  • Assist families in developing and achieving goals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions with families

Requirements:
  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Life or work experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities  and experience working with families and children preferred but willing to train the right person 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Be able to handle emergency situations 
  • Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified
  • Valid driver’s license, availability of private vehicle, up-to-date car insurance and safe driving history
  • CORI, SORI, DPPC and National Fingerprint Check
  • A negative Mantoux TB test or a clear chest x-ray
