Water Treatment Operator

DPW- Water Division 

The Town of Amherst seeks a Water Treatment Operator to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, process control, maintenance, and repair of the water treatment facilities, wells, and reservoirs. Assists in water distribution activities as required.  The Town is willing to train the right candidate and will cover the cost to obtain the required licenses within in the first year of hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School degree or equivalent, AND two (2) years of college or technical training in biology, environmental science, chemistry, water treatment or a closely related field; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the duties.  

Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, Valid Massachusetts Class B CDL, OR ability to obtain License within one (1) year of hire; Massachusetts Grade 2 Treatment Drinking Water License (or as established by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Certification of Operators of Water Treatment Facilities), OR ability to obtain Certification within one (1) year of hire.
